Foundation Workforce

Assist drivers at public charging stations, help start and stop sessions, guide first-time EV users, manage queues and reduce user errors.

Support daily charging rotation for taxis, buses, vans, rentals and corporate fleets; track state of charge and ensure vehicles are ready for use.

Support EV users in semi-public locations, including hotels, malls, offices and shopping centres.

Coordinate charging flow for buses, matatus, shuttles and SACCO fleets at high-traffic transport hubs.

Support users through phone, WhatsApp, app chat or call centre channels for failed sessions, RFID issues, payment errors and charger availability.

Educate new EV owners on charging, range, battery care, safety, mobile apps and basic vehicle use.

Explain EV features during sales, delivery and handover, including charging options, ownership costs and basic maintenance.

Train drivers on range management, regenerative braking, safe charging habits, route planning and efficient driving.

Provide first-level safety response at charging sites, fleet depots and workshops; escalate high-voltage or accident risks correctly.

Support technicians with vehicle movement, inspection preparation, job card handling, workshop cleanliness and non-technical service processes.

Help identify basic EV parts, manage customer intake, support quotations, service bookings and workshop communication.

Support EV rescue operations, mobile charging, towing coordination and emergency customer assistance.

Assist in safe movement, storage and documentation of EV batteries or battery-related components under supervision.

Help maintain service records, warranty forms, inspection reports, charger service logs and customer documentation.

Technical Operator / Installer

Install 7kW, 11kW, 22kW and 44kW AC chargers in homes, offices, hotels, malls and fleet sites.

Support installation of DC fast chargers, including mounting, cabling, cable routing, protection equipment and site preparation.

Carry out electrical works related to EVSE installation, including wiring, breaker installation, earthing support and load preparation.

Inspect locations before charger installation, assess power availability, access, parking layout, cable routes and safety risks.

Supervise plinths, ducts, trenching, bollards, cable pathways, signage and physical site readiness for chargers.

Assist with testing, activation, network connection, RFID setup, payment setup and handover after charger installation.

Maintain and repair AC chargers, including cables, connectors, screens, RCDs, relays and basic electrical faults.

Carry out routine inspections on chargers, depots, fleet sites and workshop equipment to maintain safety and uptime.

Perform routine EV service tasks such as tyres, brakes, suspension, filters, cooling checks, 12V battery checks and basic diagnostics.

Handle non-high-voltage mechanical work, including brake systems, steering, suspension, shocks, control arms, tyres and wipers.

Provide roadside technical support, basic diagnostics, safe towing preparation, mobile charging support and incident escalation.

Schedule servicing, track vehicle downtime, monitor tyre/brake wear and coordinate workshop visits for fleet vehicles.

Manage daily vehicle charging, parking, movement, handover, shift readiness and charging discipline at fleet depots.

Identify correct EV parts, read parts catalogues, support workshop procurement and ensure correct replacement components are ordered.

Support integration of solar, battery energy storage and load management systems for EV charging sites.

Install and support SIM cards, LAN connections, meters, RFID readers and basic charger communication systems.

Specialist Technician

Carry out safe isolation, lockout/tagout, high-voltage risk assessment and supervised work on HV systems.

Authorise and supervise work on high-voltage EV systems, ensuring correct safety controls before repairs.

Conduct battery state-of-health checks, identify degradation, analyse BMS data and support warranty decisions.

Diagnose pack-level faults, module imbalance, thermal faults, isolation faults and battery communication errors.

Diagnose and repair electric motors, reduction gearboxes, inverters, drive units and cooling systems.

Work on inverters, DC-DC converters, onboard chargers, contactors and high-voltage power control systems.

Maintain and diagnose battery cooling, motor cooling, HVAC integration and coolant circuits.

Maintain and repair DC chargers, power modules, cooling systems, contactors, filters, displays and communication faults.

Monitor charger uptime, resolve backend faults, manage firmware updates, diagnose communication failures and support platforms.

Respond to charger faults in the field, replace components, restore uptime and manage service-level obligations.

Calibrate cameras, radar, sensors and driver assistance systems after repairs or bodywork.

Use diagnostic tools, CAN bus data, telematics platforms and OEM software to identify faults and performance issues.

Prepare technical warranty reports, interface with OEMs, document failures and support customer claims.

Inspect used EVs, certify battery health, assess accident risk, verify charging system status and support resale markets.

Sort, test and classify batteries for reuse, storage, second-life applications or recycling pathways.

Train rescue teams, depots, workshops and public responders on EV crash, fire and high-voltage safety.

Master Technician / Trainer / Assessor

Handle the most complex EV faults, supervise specialist technicians and support OEM-level diagnostics.

Lead complex charger installations, DC fast charger troubleshooting, charger network optimisation and uptime strategy.

Manage workshop safety, quality, job card closure, customer delivery standards and technician performance.

Oversee EV fleet uptime, service planning, charging strategy, technician teams and lifecycle cost control.

Train Level 1 learners in EV basics, charging, safety, customer support and adoption readiness.

Train electricians and installers on AC/DC charger installation, commissioning and site safety.

Train technicians and responders on HV safety, isolation, PPE, lockout/tagout and emergency procedures.

Train advanced technicians on BMS, battery health, diagnostics and fault interpretation.
